Pet Adoptions

Due to shelter closings during the current COVID-19 pandemic, our adoption process has changed. At this time, the shelter is closed to walk-in adoptions. All meet-and-greets and adoptions will be done by appointment only. Our currently available pets are listed below. We are asking that potential adopters view the available pets online. If you find a pet you would like to meet with, please submit the online application. Once we are done processing the application, we will schedule an appointment for you to come in and meet the pet and process the adoption.

Adoption applications are processed Monday - Friday unless it is a major holiday. We do try to process applications the same day they are received so that pets can go home as soon as possible. However, it may take 24-48 (business) hours to receive a reply. All application submissions are answered via email. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Any intentional falsification or misrepresentation is grounds for denial of this application. Incomplete applications will NOT be processed.

Cleburne Animal Services has dogs and cats available for adoption. All animals in the Shelter require an adoption application from potential adopters. This helps ensure that the animals are going to the best home possible and also helps to reduce the adoption return rate. Applications are processed within 24 - 48 hours and on a first come, first served basis The adoption fee is $75 for dogs/$50 for cats and includes:

  • Spay/Neuter*
  • Rabies vaccination*
  • Age-Appropriate Vaccinations
  • Microchip
  • Deworming
  • Heartworm Test (dogs over 6 mos.)
  • Current Heartworm Prevention
  • Flea/Tick Prevention
  • 30-day free trial pet insurance

**Animals that are too young for spay/neuter surgery or rabies vaccinations may be sent home with vouchers to have this completed when age appropriate. Spay/Neuter and Rabies vaccinations are required by STATE LAW to be completed by the time specified on the adoption contract**
