TxDot is preparing for a new ADA Curb Ramp Project that will benefit immobilized pedestrians. The project will cause some "rolling" lane closures throughout Johnson County.
The contractor will start in Cleburne then Keene, Alvarado, Joshua, Burleson, and Godley. TxDot has started the Curb Ramp Project and currently has a lane closure on SH 174 through Friday, January 19. The contractor is starting on the Southbound lane from 7 AM to 7 PM and leaving the barrels/barricades up overnight. Once finished the contractor will move to the next location in Cleburne.
Curb ramps provide pedestrian access between the sidewalk and roadway for people using wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, crutches, handcarts, bicycles, and pedestrians who have trouble stepping up and down high curbs. Curb ramps are crucial to a full transit network and to pedestrian safety. Without curb ramps in place, people with mobility disabilities are often forced to travel in the street with traffic, in order to move around the City.
More information and updates of the locations will be provided through this post.
