Cleburne Animal Shelter seeks food donations

gus

The Cleburne Animal Shelter is asking for the community’s help to feed the 91 animals currently in the facility.

The shelter needs donations to refill its storeroom. The shelter goes through about 120 lbs. of dog food, 80 lbs. of puppy food, 40 lbs. of cat food, and 100 lbs. of kitty litter each week during the summer. Taking care of all the animals requires 16-24 big bags of dog food, 2-8 big bags of cat food, and 20 bags of cat litter each month.

“Summer is the busiest time of year here,” Animal Services Manager Mindy Henry said. “We are asking for the community’s help to take care of these sweet animals until they can find their forever homes.”

Those interested in helping can bring the items for donation to the shelter at 2375 Service Drive. The following items are what the shelter is currently using:

  • Purina ONE SmartBlend Natural Lamb & Rice Formula Adult Dry Dog Food – 40 lbs. bag
  • Purina ONE SmartBlend Healthy Puppy Formula Dry Dog Food
  • Purina ONE Indoor Advantage Adult Dry Cat Food
  • Cat’s Pride Premium Clay Cat Litter, 20 lbs. bag

The shelter has a full wish list of items on Amazon. To find it, visit the Cleburne Animal Shelter’s Facebook page. Staff encourages participants to bring their donations and take a picture and share it on social media with #StockTheShelter to show how Cleburne can rally for an important cause.

The shelter is currently in the middle of its Save Them All animal adoption campaign. From now until July 4, all adoption fees at the shelter are waived. Save Them All is sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society.
