City to conduct micro-surfacing work on roads


The city will micro-surface several roadways this fall as part of its Street Maintenance Program.

The City Council approved a $244,414 contract with Viking Construction, Inc. for a project to micro-surface about 3.3 miles of roadway.

Crews will resurface existing roadways with a fresh layer of asphalt. The roads in this project are Granbury Street, Boone Street, Hillsboro Street, Prairie Avenue, South Ridgeway Drive, Olive Street, and South Colonial Drive. The city uses the pavement condition index to determine which roadways it will work on. 

This project is one of several in the city’s Street Maintenance Program. The city uses multiple approaches to improve and maintain its infrastructure. Work planned for 2019 includes North Anglin Street, Yellow Jacket Drive, Prairie Street, and more.
