The 2020 Streets Program is underway this May to improve roadways across Cleburne.
The contractor began work in early spring with fog sealing and mill & overlay work in the West Meadow area. This work is the start of the city’s 2020 Streets Program to repair 9-miles of local streets. The City Council budgeted $2.5 million toward street improvement projects that will last through the year; continuing the Council’s multiyear approach of investing back into the infrastructure.
Fog sealing is the least intensive method of roadwork, where crews apply a layer of asphalt emulsion over an aged pavement to help preserve it and extend its life. Crews have also begun mill and overlay work where they remove the top layer of roadway and replace it with new asphalt creating a fresh driving surface.
The streets included in this year’s program are Blakney Street, Huron Street, East Kilpatrick Street, North Anglin Street, Westmeadow Drive, Honey Suckle Drive, Honey Suckle Court, Hummingbird Lane, Whitefish Drive, Turtledove Drive, North Hyde Park, Blue Jay Drive, North Nolan River Road, Glenwood Drive, Poindexter Avenue, Faircrest Drive/Municipal Drive, Ramsey Street, Dale Street, Ivy Court, Meadowlark Drive, Robin Place, Cleveland Street, and Harlin Drive.
