The City of Cleburne is rescheduling its 2020 Market Square summer concert series to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cleburne City Council provided this direction for the community-favorite concert series at its May 26 meeting. The concerts are traditionally held in Market Square where attendees set up chairs with family and friends in the public plaza. Postponing the concert is a safety measure to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in the community.
“Let us wait until we get back into normal operations so this concert can best serve the community,” Mayor Scott Cain said.
The outdoor concert series features two evening concerts that bring community members together in the historic Market Square. The council members said a major focal point of the concerts is allowing community members to sit side-by-side and enjoy live music with each other’s company. The councilmembers said alternatives like a drive-in concert or having attendees separated by several feet would not meet the spirit and expectations of the event.
City staff will provide more information about the Concerts in the Square when its return is finalized.
