The Cleburne Public Library will digitize Cleburne Times-Review issues from 1934-1955 with a state grant.
The Texas State Library & Archives Commission and the IMLS awarded the Cleburne Public Library a $25,000 TexTreasures grant. This funding will be used to digitize older versions of the local newspaper.
The digitized images will be added to the few already accessible through the University of North Texas Libraries' Portal to Texas History. This is the beginning of a multiphase project that will eventually result in the digitization and free accessibility of all issues of the local newspaper. This will provide an invaluable resource to those researching events and individuals in Cleburne and the surrounding communities. Johnson County Historical Collective Group members will assist with this project including Layland Museum manager Stephanie Montero, Johnson County Courthouse Museum’s Darlene West, Marsha Buckner with the Johnson County Genealogical Society, and Sandra Neeley with the Johnson County Historical Commission.
This is part of the Texas Digital Newspaper Program.
