[ARCHIVED] Cleburne Vaccination Hub to stand down by May’s end

The Cleburne COVID-19 Vaccination Hub is scheduled to stand down operations by the end of May 2021.

This direction comes as the State begins to reduce the amount of vaccine shipped to the regional hub and vaccines becomes more available at traditional medical providers.

“I encourage our residents, if you haven’t received a vaccine go ahead and get signed up,” Mayor Scott Cain said. “It’s easy to get in and I can tell you you’ll even have a little bit of fun with our chief and his staff, they make it a very pleasant and memorable experience.”

The State began reducing the local hub’s allotted vaccine doses the week of April 19 and by the end of April the hub will conclude the distribution of first doses. Throughout May the team will provide the remaining second doses.

As more vaccines become available at pharmacies, doctors’ offices, and other locations the need for a large hub operation decreases. This will also allow Cleburne firefighters to return their resources to their traditional responsibilities. Chief Lail added that if the need arises for Cleburne Fire to resume distributing vaccines it remains ready.
