The Cleburne Public Library received an award recognizing its consistent excellence and outstanding contributions to the community.
The Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA) awarded the Library its Achievement of Excellence in Libraries Award for its contributions in 2021. Out of 565 public library systems in Texas, Cleburne Public Library is one of 59 library institutions to receive the year’s award.
“This award acknowledges that we have created a place for Cleburne residents to enrich their quality of life by enabling the pursuit of lifelong learning, through programming, resources, and gathering together,” Library Director Tina Dunham said. “We’re glad the organization recognizes the quality of our community’s Library and we hope more residents come and take part in the free resources available to them.”
This is the first time the Cleburne Public Library has received the award. City staff submitted an application that showed its excellence in providing services to underserved populations, hosting cultural, topical, and educational programming for adults and families, providing literacy support for all ages, supporting workforce development, investing in collaborative efforts with community organizations, supporting digital inclusion, and more.
The Texas Municipal Library Director’s Association works to raise awareness about municipal public libraries and public library issues, support and advocate for improve methods of public library service, and maintain high standards of professional ethics.
