Boil Water Notice Lifted for Residents in NW Cleburne

Boil Water Lifted

Update on Oct. 18 at 9:50 a.m. - The precautionary boil water notice has been lifted. The water samples that were sent in to get tested after the water main break was repaired passed. The water is safe to consume. Thank you for your patience as we worked to ensure the safety of the public. A big thanks goes out to the crew members who worked around the clock to get the situation remedied.

Update on Oct. 17 at 8 a.m. -  The indicated area is still under a precautionary boil water notice. The water line has been repaired, and normal water pressure has returned. Water samples are being collected to ensure that the water is safe to consume. A third-party lab will test the collected samples, which will take approximately 24 hours.  The City will notify customers through this webpage and our social media sites when the boil notice has been lifted.

The City of Cleburne is issuing a precautionary water boil notice for water customers in the area of northwest portions of the city, as shown in the map below, due to the recent loss in water pressure caused by a leak in the distribution system.

Crews were able to address the leak west of the tollway and are working to repair the issue. As a precaution, the City is asking the affected water customers to boil tap water for consumption until the notice is lifted. To ensure destruction of any potential harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil for two minutes and cooled prior to use for drinking water or consumption purposes. Customers can also use bottled water.

This is a precautionary measure as the City has not found any harmful elements in the water system. The City will notify customers when it is no longer necessary to boil water. Updates will be posted on the City’s webpage and social media pages.
