The City of Cleburne was awarded two prestigious awards for the outstanding work done in financial reporting and investment policy.
For the 33rd year, the City received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, which is given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
The GFOA award was given for Cleburne’s fiscal year 2021 annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR). The certificate of achievement was established to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements to prepare transparent annual comprehensive financial reports.
“The finance staff has dedicated many hours to ensure the transparency and quality in the financial reports for the city and the community,” said Rhonda Daugherty, director of finance for the City of Cleburne. “This award reflects the dedication of not only the staff, but of the council and their commitment to allocating the resources necessary to continue the annual achievement of excellence in financial reporting.”
The City also received the Certificate of Distinction in Investment Policy from the Government Treasurers' Organization of Texas (GTOT). It is the first time Cleburne has earned this distinction.
The GTOT Investment Policy Certification Program was established to assist local governments in developing investment policies suitable for public funds that fully comply with state codes.
“We had a strong, compliant investment policy in place prior to submission to GTOT for review,” Daugherty explained. “This award affirms the City’s professional excellence and understanding of the requirements of the Texas Public Funds Investment Act.”
The finance team will present their awards to the Cleburne City Council at a regularly scheduled city council meeting in March.
