[ARCHIVED] View the City’s Juneteenth Holiday Hours

Juneteenth Holiday

Juneteenth was first recognized as a federal holiday in 2021. It commemorates the day slaves in Texas found out they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

The day was recently approved as a City holiday at the council meeting on May 9.

Please note that City administrative offices and buildings will be closed Monday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Sanitation routes and emergency services will still be in operation.

Below is the schedule for sanitation services, parks and recreation facilities and the library.

Sanitation Services

  • Sanitation routes will run as usual. The Transfer Station will remain open on Monday, June 19.

Parks and Recreation Facilities

  • Booker T. Washington Recreation Center: Open and operating under regular hours.
  • Splash Station: Open and operating under regular hours.
  • Museums: Closed on Saturday, June 17 through Monday, June 19 (the museums are usually closed on Sundays and Mondays).
  • Senior Center: Closed on Monday, June 19.
  • Golf Links: Open and operating under regular hours.

Cleburne Public Library
