[ARCHIVED] Filing Period Open for Council Seat in Special Election

Empty Council Seat

The filing period is now open for those interested in running in the Cleburne City Council special election. The seat on the Nov. 7 ballot will be Single-Member District 3 (SMD 3).

Joseph Mims, who was the winner of the SMD 3 seat in the May election, turned in his letter of declination on May 16. As a result, councilman Mike Mann had the choice, by law, to remain in the SMD 3 seat until a new councilman can be elected.

View councilmember requirements and forms here. The deadline to turn in a candidate packet is Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Members of city council are locally elected representatives. They serve as community advocates and are often the collective voice of their district. For more information, email [email protected] or call 817-645-0908.
