Thirty-seven junior golfers age 8-18 completed the first round of play in the two day Junior Golf Championship at Cleburne Golf Links today. The youngest players compete in an 18 hole event, playing 9 holes each day from the Silver tee markers. Townes Chauveaux took the lead in the boys 8-10 year old division with a 3 under par 33, three shots ahead of Grady Rhidenour who turned in a score of even par.
In the girls 11-14 division, Sadie Suchoza is the lone competitor in this division. She turned in a score of 113 in the opening round. In the girls 15-18 division, Ella Barton, defending champion from a year ago, opened with a 6 over round of 78. She has a two shot lead over Addisyn Kinnan (80) and is 4 shots ahead of Emilee Slovak (82).
The Boys, 11-14 division is led by Jack Daly who posted an 81 in the first round, good enough to lead Jaxon Hill (88) by 7 and Grant Lawson by 11. Dax Stewart (95) is in fourth place, two ahead of Dylan Mourning (97). The Boys 15-18 division currently has 4 players within 7 shots of the lead. Landon Johnson opened the tournament with a 4 under par 68 while Kolbe Fielder posted a 1 under par 71, good for second place leading into tomorrows final round. Kendrick Hoster shot 74 and defending champion Carson Rosser currently sits in 4th place at 3 over par 75.
