Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a copy of a police report?

In order to obtain a copy of a crime or incident report, you must complete an Open Records Request form.  Once the form has been completed and turned it, it must be reviewed to determine if it can be released or if it must be forwarded to the Texas Attorney’s Office for review.  The procedures related to Open Records are dictated by State Law, not the City of Cleburne or the Cleburne Police Department.

How do I get a copy of an accident report?

Copies of accident reports cost $6.00 each.  The copies can be obtained after the report has been completed and turned in by the investigating officer, which can take up to three working days.

How do I get my car out of impound?

In most cases, a vehicle can be released after we have been shown proof of insurance, proof of ownership, and a current, valid driver’s license.

I received a citation, who do I need to talk to about it?

In order to make disposition on a citation, you must contact the Cleburne Municipal Court.  They are located across the street from the police department.

What do I do if I have changed my mind about filing charges against someone?

You will need to contact the investigator assigned to your case.  You can do this by contacting the Criminal Investigations Division at 817-645-0980.

Is someone in jail?

The Cleburne Police Department does maintain a jail or holding facility.  Persons that we arrest are taken to the Johnson county Jail.  Their phone number is 817-556-6006.

Are you closed for lunch?

The Cleburne Police Department provides service 24 hours a day.  Our records division is open from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.

Does Cleburne have a homeless shelter?

No, the nearest facility is in Ft. Worth.
