The Cleburne Police Department has a ten person tactical team. Members of this team are specially trained in the use of various firearms and less lethal weapons. Chemical agents, bean bag rounds and tasers are some of the less lethal weapons which may be deployed by this unit. Officers that are members of this team must maintain a high level of training and physical fitness. They must successfully complete a physical agility course annually.
 The Cleburne Police Department Tactical Unit is often activated to respond to the following types of calls: 1. hostage situation 2. barricaded person 3. high risk warrant service 4. any other time that additional manpower is needed on a call.
Many times when the tactical team is deployed, they are accompanied by the Crisis Negotiators. This is a 5 person team that has received special training in how to safely resolve critical incidents and hostage and/or crisis situations. They use various tactics to communicate with persons involved in a crisis situation to safely resolve the situation without the use of force. |
