Patrol

Uniform Patrol

Patrol is the most visible and recognizable section of the police department, operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year. These are the officers you see patrolling your neighborhoods and businesses, and the first to respond in an emergency. Traffic enforcement is also one of many responsibilities all patrol officers perform. Patrol is the largest section in the department with 36 uniformed officers and supervisors.

Patrol officers are first responders who perform initial investigations into offenses, prevent and deter crime, disorder, and fear of crime through responsibly aggressive enforcement, and connect with the community, at all levels, for effective crime prevention, problem identification, and collaborative, innovative problem solving. Patrol officers have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve.

In order to effectively provide coverage throughout the city, the division utilizes four shifts with officers on each shift responsible for individually assigned geographic areas of the city. The patrol shifts work in 12-hour rotations with both day and night shift coverage.

For more information or to ask a specific patrol-related question, contact the police department’s non-emergency number at (817) 645-0972 at any time and ask to speak to an on-duty supervisor. You may also contact one of the division’s shift commanders or the Assistant Chief. Please remember that these are non-emergency numbers. For emergencies, please continue to dial 911.
