National Night Out 2017

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, neighborhoods throughout Cleburne are invited to join with thousands of communities statewide for the 32nd Annual National Night Out. Texas and Florida chose to have National Night Out in October due to the heat during the summer.

“National Night Out” is designed to:
1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
2) Generate support and participation in crime efforts.
3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community relations.
4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Cleburne and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and EMS paramedics.  Events such as cookouts, block parties, neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout the city and nationwide.

This evening is a great opportunity for citizens and law enforcement to partner against crime.  We are encouraging everyone to come meet your neighbors and commit to help law enforcement reduce crime in your community.  It is time to show the criminal element that we as a society are not going to just sit back and let crime occur in our neighborhoods.
