Permit Information
Permit Information 1.Work shall not commence prior to obtaining a permit from the Building Inspection Department. Requests for permits may be made in person or by calling 817-645-0955. 2. Only those authorized by the contractor are eligible to request permits. The contractor shall provide a signed authorization list and it must be kept updated. 3. All work shall be done in accordance with the rules and regulations as set forth in the City of Cleburne Code of Ordinances. 4.The contractor must comply in all respects with the provisions as adopted. Also see Bills passed by the Texas legislature. The City of Cleburne requires a building permit and an inspection on the following work: Building Permits Electrical Permits Plumbing Permits Mechanical Permits All new construction whether residential, commercial, or industrial. Remodeling of residential dwellings, commercial and industrial buildings when erecting or removing walls and/or any alterations involving the primary structure. (Exceptions: Cosmetic work such as painting, siding, replacing sheetrock, wall or floor coverings, cabinets, accessory substructure buildings under 120 sq. ft.). Fences over 6' high. Retaining walls over 4; high. Roofing permit needed when replacing decking or rafters. Replacing or changing exit framings (i.e. windows and doors). All carports, detached garages, and storage buildings over 120 sq. ft. All swimming pools in ground and above ground if over 5,000 gallons. All covered porches and patios. Approach permits necessary when replacing or pouring approach for driveways. All construction must meet the 1997 Uniform Building Code. Electrical permits must be obtained by a licensed electrician and inspections must be made for electrical work such as: Installation of electrical service for all new construction (residential, commercial, or industrial). Alteration, repair, enlarge, convert or replace any existing electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment of any voltage, for light, heat, power, decoration, or amusement. All electrical work must meet the 2002 National Electrical Code. Plumbing permits must be obtained and inspections made for plumbing work such as: Installation of plumbing lines (water & sanitary sewer) and fixtures for all new construction (residential, commercial, or industrial). Installation, alteration, repair, enlarge, convert or replace any existing plumbing system, lines, traps, or on-site sewerage facilities. Exempt Work: The stopping of leaks in drains, water, soil, waste or vent pipe, provided however, the vent pipe, trap, and drainpipe becomes defective and necessary to replace with new material. The cleaning of stoppages or the repairing of leaks in pipes, valves or fixtures; and the removal and reinstallation of water closets, provided such repairs do not involve or require the replacement or rearrangement of valves, pipes or fixtures. All plumbing work must meet the 2003 International Plumbing Code. Mechanical permits must be obtained by a licensed mechanical contractor and inspections made for mechanical work such as: Installation of an air conditioning and/or heating system for all new construction (residential, commercial, or industrial). Alteration, repair, enlarge, convert or replace any existing mechanical system. Exempt Work: Any portable heating appliance. Any portable ventilation equipment. Any portable cooling unit. Any steam, hot water or chilled water piping within any heating or cooling equipment. Replacement of minor part that does not alter approval of equipment or make such equipment unsafe. Any portable evaporative cooler. Any self-contained refrigeration system containing 10 lbs. or less of refrigerant, or actuated by motors of 1 horsepower or less. All mechanical work must meet the 2003 International Mechanical Code.
