Applications are accepted during normal business hours -- Monday thru Friday from 1:00 - 5:00 pm
We are located at 418 W. Henderson (Municipal Services Building)
Applications may be picked up at the Cleburne Housing Office;
All applications must be accompanied with original Certified Birth records & original Social Security cards for all household members;
Valid photo ID is required for all household members over 18 years old;
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED;
DUPLICATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED;
APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BY FAX;
Initial Eligibility Process
Individuals seeking rental assistance must apply with our agency (when the waiting list is open). Applicants will complete a pre-application and provide the required documents (valid social security card & original certified birth certificate) for all household members applying. Household members 18 years of age and older must also provide a valid photo identification at the time of application. All documents must be original and CHA will retain copies.
Submitted applications will be reviewed for a preliminary assessment of eligibility prior to placement on the waiting list. Eligible applicants will be placed on the waiting list according to the date and time received; this agency does not give preferences nor have emergency assistance. Placement on the waiting list does not guarantee eligibility; final determination will be made when the applicant is selected from the waiting list.
Applicants on the waiting list must keep their contact address updated with the Housing Authority; failure to do so will result in removal from the waiting list.
Waiting List Openings
Opening of the waiting list will be announced via public notice in the local newspaper and on this web site. CHA will not accept applications when the waiting list is closed nor give out applications.
Selection from the Waiting List
When assistance becomes available applicants will be selected from the waiting list in accordance with HUD regulations and Cleburne Housing policies. Applicants will be contacted by mail with instructions on what to do next to complete the eligibility process. It is difficult to estimate the time that it will take for the applicant to reach the top of the waiting list. Currently the waiting period is approximately 1 - 2 years. Applicants will only be notified bymail when they reach the top of the waiting list. Cleburne Housing does not accept responsibility for mail delays or forwarding orders. Your name will be removed from the waiting list if you do not respond to scheduled appointments or requests for information. Applicants must attend a briefing prior to leasing up with the program.
If an applicant is found ineligible (often due to over-income, negative background or non-compliance) they will be notified by mail.
ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED BY APPLICANTS MUST BE COMPLETE, TRUE, AND CORRECT. IT IS A CRIME TO KNOWINGLY AND WILLINGLY MAKE A FALSE STATMENT TO OBTAIN RENTAL ASSISTANCE.
