The Planning and Zoning Department processes development applications including subdivision plats, rezoning requests, specific use permits and variance requests. The Planning and Zoning Department staff serves as liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map & Future Land Use Map Update 

 The City of Cleburne will host multiple open houses to provide community members the opportunity to ask questions regarding the proposed residential and non-residential updates to the Zoning Ordinance. We invite you to join s at one of the following meetings:

Residential Property Open Houses:
January 18 & 20, 2022 at the Cleburne Conference Center, 1501 W. Henderson Street, from 6-8pm

Following these open houses, City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 5pm at City Hall to discuss the proposed residential updates to the Zoning Ordinance.

Non-Residential/Overlay Property Open Houses:
February 15 & 17, 2022 at the Cleburne Conference Center, 1501 W. Henderson Street, from 6-8pm

Following these open houses, City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 5pm at City Hall to discuss the proposed non-residential/overlay updates to the Zoning Ordinance.

The Zoning Ordinance helps shape the future development across the city. The last time the City’s Zoning Ordinance and map were updated was 1996 and much has changed since then. Cleburne has experienced significant growth and has evolved into the city it is today. The revised Zoning Ordinance will reflect both current and projected market and neighborhood conditions, as well as incorporate best practices for development regulation.

  • In person: Complete a speaker/comment registration card and turn in to City Staff before the meeting begins or before speaking to the Commission.
