Cleburne firefighter helps in Cali wildfires

Cleburne Fire Lt. Kris Watson is headed to California with a team from Texas to help battle wildfires in California.

With more than 1,000 confirmed wildfires in California, the state reached out to the Texas Department of Emergency Management to help through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) Program. Governor Abbott approved the request, and multiple North Texas Fire Agencies mustered teams to respond. From Cleburne Fire, TIFMAS requested a very specialized certification, Engine Boss. Lieutenant Kris Watson is currently our only Engine Boss certified member. This morning, Lt. Watson left for a 14-day deployment in California in command of an Engine and Crew from Parker County. Fire Chief Scott Lail has asked the community to keep Lt. Watson and the other first responders who put themselves in harm's way in our thoughts and prayers.
