The Cleburne Police Department is preparing to ramp up enforcement of the City’s amended truck routes ordinance, which will take effect on June 25, 2023.
The ordinance prohibits through trucks to travel on Henderson Street (BUS 67), Country Club Road (FM 1718) or any other street or highway within the city limits that has not been designated as a truck route.
Trucks are defined in the ordinance as:
- having a manufacturer's gross weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds,
- being a single-unit vehicle with tandem axles,
- or being a truck-tractor/semitrailer combination.
Through trucks are trucks not having their origin, destination, pickup or delivery point within the City. Instead, these trucks must travel on US 67 (the highway) and SH 174 (Main Street/Caddo Street).
Truck drivers with a destination within the city limits that is off the designated truck routes must use the shortest most direct route and minimize the use of City-maintained streets and residential areas to reach their destination.
