The filing period is now open for those interested in running in the Cleburne City Council special election. The seat on the May 4 special election ballot will be Single-Member District 3 (SMD 3).
No candidate packets were turned in for the seat to have a special election in November 2023. Therefore, the election was canceled, and the council called for a special election to be held on May 4, 2024—the same day that the general election for the Mayor, SMD 1 and SMD 4 positions will be held.
By law, the current councilman for the SMD 3 seat, Mike Mann, has the choice to remain the position until a new councilman can be elected.

Members of city council are locally elected representatives. They serve as community advocates and are often the collective voice of their district.
